Safiq Rahim is confident that the Harimau Malaya will emerge victorious in their upcoming friendly match against Bangladesh.
The Malaysia captain declared that his side will defeat Bangladesh at the Shah Alam Stadium on August 29.
“We will beat them,” Safiq said at a press conference right after the 2015 Malaysia Cup draw.
“We will take the match very seriously because it is part of our preparations for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
“It is important to go into the qualifiers on a winning note to maintain our hopes of qualifying for the World Cup.
"So, we have to be more serious and perform better [than we did in the past few international matches].”
With only one point from two matches, Dollah Salleh’s men are currently at the bottom of Group A in the second round of the 2018 World Cup qualifying stage for the AFC region.
