Selangor beaten at home by Tampines Rovers

Tampines Rovers secured three valuable points after beating Selangor 1-0 and they now have two wins out of two in the AFC Cup group E.

Selangor's misery were further compounded after they lost 1-0 at home to Tampines Rovers in the AFC Cup.
Fazrul Nawaz's solitary goal proved enough for the Stags and the result comes on the back of an early FA Cup exit after PDRM dumped the Red Giants out of the competition with a 2-1 win.
A mis-kick by right-back Bunyamin Umar allowed a through ball to reach Fazrul and he duly found the back of the net in the 26th minute. There were suspicions of offside but television replays show that left-back Azmi Muslim may have played Fazrul on.
"To get three points away from home is perfect but we are not favourites yet. A win against Ceres next will put us in an even better position," said Tampines coach V.Sundramoorthy.
"Selangor were tough to break down and it really could have gone either way. Fortunately, Fazrul scored on the break and we managed to thwart their attacks.
"I had planned to bring on (Jermaine) Pennant and (Billy) Mehmet but my hands were forced because Yasir Hanapi and Kwon Jun had to be taken off while I needed to bring on Ismadi Mukhtar for Fabian Kwok in the 56th minute because R. Gopinathan were exposing us since he came on."
Selangor started the match without a host of regulars as Bunyamin and centre-back Rizal Fahmi Abdul Rosid were handed their first start of the season in place of Azrif Nasrulhaq and Razman Roslan.
Surprise omissions Nazmi Faiz Mansor and Gopinathan were introduced in the second half but the Red Giants could not find a way through Tampines' five-man defence.
"We tried but only have ourselves to blame after losing concentration during their goal. I kept harping that we will be punished if we lose focus but here we are again," said Selangor coach Zainal Abidin Hassan.
"I had to make changes to the squad because some of players were tired from playing seven matches in the last 19 days. I saw they were tired during the FA Cup defeat to PDRM and felt I had to change as we also play Terengganu on Friday.
"We have to bounce back and win our remaining two home matches and get three points against Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi or Tampines."
