Former Harimau Muda star Wan Zack Haikal has returned to Malaysia to play for 2013 Malaysian FA Cup champions Kelantan.
The 23-year-old signing from Japanese side FC Ryukyu was present at Kelantan’s press conference announcing their new players for April’s transfer window, alongside national defender Fitri Omar from ATM and former Sydney FC player Brendan Gan.
Previously being linked with a move to cash-rich Johor Darul Takzim, the winger said he could not wait to start playing for the Red Warriors.
“I am ready to play Kelantan," he said at the press conference. "Right now I have been given freedom until I am fully fit."
Wan Zack, who is currently suffering from a cruciate ligament injury, is in the final phase of his recovery and is expected to return as early as June this year.
Kelantan Football Association’s (KAFA) advisor Tan Sri Annuar Musa was delighted with the arrival of Wan Zack, especially after going through a long negotiation process with FC Ryukyu, saying: "“Wan Zack has made the decision to play with us, but it does not mean that he has taken a backward step in his footballing career.”
