William and Kate, Beckham and Bear back Murray

There was an array of famous faces at Wimbledon to watch home hope Andy Murray and world number one Novak Djokovic put on a show.

Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic sparkled on Centre Court as they reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon on Wednesday, but not all eyes were on the tennis as royalty, with sports stars and actors among the distinguished guests at SW19.

William and Kate fly the flag

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were in the Royal Box to cheer on Murray as the British number one beat Vasek Pospisil to reach his sixth semi-final in the last seven years at his home grand slam. The popular couple have had sleepless nights following the arrival of Princess Charlotte and Murray could be up all hours as he contemplates how to beat Roger Federer in the last four on Friday.

Suave Beckham backs fellow Brit

Former England football captain David Beckham was looking as dapper as ever in the Royal Box as he made the trip to the All England Club to lend his support to Murray and watch Djokovic put on a masterclass later on. The stylish 40-year-old icon took his son Romeo along and attracted plenty of camera lenses as per usual.

Alternative adventure for Bear

Born Survivor star Bear Grylls swapped the jungle for the Royal Box along with his wife Shara and would have been impressed with the endurance of Djokovic and Murray. The adventurer must also have had some admiration for unseeded Canadian Pospisil, who played two five-set matches on Monday and gave a good account of himself against Murray two days later.

Cooper watches tennis stars hustle

Hollywood heart-throb Bradley Cooper was on hand to watch the quarter-final action, which went to script as the favourites progressed. Cooper, who has starred in blockbusters such as American Hustle and American Sniper, was by no means the only actor present as the likes of Josh Hartnett were also at the grass-court showpiece in London.

De Gea dodges Real talk

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea dodged questions about his future as he enjoyed a day at the tennis with Spain team-mate Juan Mata. De Gea continues to be strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid, but was not entertaining talk of a switch to the Spanish capital at the All England Club.
