Albiol reveals Premier League appeal

Valencia defender Raul Albiol has put both Liverpool and Arsenal on red alert after suggesting a move to the Premier League is of genuine interest to him.

The 23-year-old Spanish international has made more than 100 appearances for the Mestalla outfit since graduating from the club's B team in 2004.

But with the cash-strapped side still not assured of Champions League qualification for next season, Albiol has revealed that a switch to English shores would appeal to him, should a potential suitor materialise.

Both Liverpool and Arsenal are believed to be keen on securing his services, which could be available for around £15 million, despite reports that the defender has a buy-out clause for the more inflated fee of £50 million.

“If I leave Valencia I would only go to a big club," he said.

"The Premier League could be perfect because I have always been a fan of the football they play.”
