Annan flattered by English interest

Ghanaian midfielder Anthony Annan has welcomed reports linking him with moves to Manchester United and Arsenal. The 23-year-old has spent just one season at Rosenborg after arriving from I.K. Start last summer, making 35 league appearances. Annan has already featured 18 times for the Black Stars alongside Chelsea powerhouse Michael Essien, and is set to pick up more caps with the African Cup of Nations and World Cup due to take place in 2010. And as a result, reports have surfaced linking the central midfielder with a move to England to compete with his international skipper, with United and Arsenal both believed to be keen on recruiting him. But although Annan admitted he is flattered to be linked with such high-profile clubs, he insisted that comparisons between himself and Essien were far-fetched. "He has everything, class, power, touch, stamina, what a player, to compare him to me? People are crazy," he told Sky Sports. "I learn a lot alongside him, he is simply awesome. "To be followed by Arsenal and Man United, they are two great teams. I just won the league here let me enjoy it and we will see in the future.

"I can't wait to represent Ghana in South Africa, but in January we need to go for the African Nations Cup."
