Arsenal forward Andrei Arshavin has conceded he has been playing below-par so far this season.
The Russian playmaker has netted six goals in all competitions for the Gunners, but believes he is still struggling to find some kind of consistency.
“Only sometimes have I shown my full skills and I’m not sure why that is,” he said in the Evening Standard.
Manager Arsene Wenger revealed Arshavin was devastated after Russia’s shock failure to reach next summer’s World Cup.
The 28-year-old was set to captain his country in South Africa but will now have to quickly focus on reigniting Arsenal’s title challenge.
Arshavin featured in Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat to Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday – a result which left the Gunners 11 points adrift of the leaders.
The Russian has figured in a number of different roles this term but revealed he is unhappy with how he has been performing.
He added: “It doesn’t matter where I play, on the right side or the left, I don’t think I’ve played that well.”comments
