Aulas backs Puel after Lille defeat

LYON - Olympique Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has backed coach Claude Puel after the seven-times champions squandered a 3-1 lead to lose 4-3 at Lille in Ligue 1 at the weekend.

"I have always said that Claude Puel would stay until the end of his four-year contract and that still stands," Aulas told reporters on Monday.

"He is deeply affected because he always gives his very best."

Puel joined Lyon from Lille last year. Sunday's defeat meant his side dropped to fourth place, five points off leaders Girondins Bordeaux.
