Bentley set for Spanish gig

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder David Bentley is set for a summer move to Spain, promoting gigs at his bar in Marbella. The 24-year-old, who moved to White Hart Lane from Blackburn for £15 million last summer, has been taking in up-and-coming acts in various intimate venues across London, with a view to inviting some to play at his bar. Bentley is known as a keen admirer of the indie genre, and was even spotted crowd-surfing at a Kings of Leon gig at the O2 Arena in December. And the former Arsenal man has already asked Leicester-based act Jersey Budd, who he watched perform last Tuesday, to play for him in Spain over the summer. “It’s good to see a footballer getting along to a proper gig,” Budd said in The Sun.

“David has asked me to go and play in Puerto Banus this summer sometime. I’d love to go out to Spain and play at his bar. But my one condition, apart from free beer all weekend, is he signs for Leicester City. He’s a magic player.” Bentley has been linked with a move away from N17 during the close-season, having fallen behind fellow England international Aaron Lennon in Harry Redknapp’s pecking order.

However, sadly for Budd a move to the Walkers Stadium appears unlikely, with Manchester City and Aston Villa believed to be leading the chase for his signature.
