Brazilian peace match in Palestine cancelled

RIO DE JANEIRO - A planned friendly between top Brazilian clubs Corinthians and Flamengo in the Palestinian territories as a peace initiative has been cancelled, local media reported.

They quoted a Flamengo spokesman as saying Brazil's two most popular teams had encountered logistical difficulties with their transportation, a match venue, ticketing and TV broadcasting for the game, scheduled for September 15 in Ramallah.

It was to have been the second "Game for Peace" organised by Brazil's government after the national team played Haiti in Port au Prince in 2004 during a political crisis in the Caribbean country.
