Briefs: Huntelaar passes Madrid medical, Benzema fit for Bayern clash

Dec 4 (Reuters) - Sports news in brief from around the world:

Soccer - Takis Lemonis has quit as coach of Greek Super League side Panionios after just 21 days in charge, the club has announced.

Lemonis resigned along with club president Fanis Gallis, who hired the former Olympiakos coach, after the board refused to remove assistant coach Yiotis Stamatopoulos, according to Greek media reports.

Stamatopoulos will take over as caretaker manager, while chief executive Christophoros Mavropoulos was elected the new president of the club.

Soccer - Makis Katsavakis is to take over as coach of struggling Iraklis for the remainder of the season, the Greek Super League club announced on their website.

The 55-year-old, who quit his job in charge of Cypriot side AEK Larnaca earlier in the week, replaces Spaniard Angel Pedraza who was sacked by the Thessaloniki club last month.
