MILAN - Sampdoria's colourful forward Antonio Cassano has gone off the boil so much that he has been dropped for Sunday's Serie A game at Udinese.
Cassano had a stunning start to the season when Samp were top, prompting consternation from fans when he was still ignored by Italy coach Marcello Lippi.
But in recent weeks his form has drastically suffered just like midtable Samp's.
"We talked and I explained my ideas. There was no fight," coach Luigi Del Neri told a news conference on Friday amid reports of a training ground bust-up.
"I want attackers that know how to press. It's a normal decision by a coach."
