Chelsea make formal £45m bid for Aguero

After being linked with the likes of Kaka, David Villa and Alexandre Pato, Chelsea appear to have made their first big-money foray into the transfer market this summer. According to The Times and, Chelsea made their move last night for Atletico Madrid's Argentinian forward Sergio 'Kun' Aguero. The actual transfer fee, though, is expected to be far lower than the quoted £45 million. The FA Cup holders' opening offer includes incentives and bonuses based on Aguero's performance at Stamford Bridge. Although the offer may seem high, it falls well short of Aguero's buy-out clause of £52 million. With competition from other superpowers, including Inter and Barcelona, Chelsea are still some way from getting their man.
