Chygrynskiy completes Barca move

MADRID - Ukrainian defender Dymytro Chygrynskiy has completed his 25-million-euro move from Shakhtar Donetsk to Barcelona and signed a five-year contract with the Spanish and European champions.

The 22-year-old centre back, the first Ukrainian player in the Catalan club's history, completed a medical on Monday and the contract included a buyout clause worth 100 million euros, Barca said on their website.

Chygrynskiy is the club's third signing of the summer after Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and defender Maxwell joined from Inter Milan.

He will compete for a place in the side with captain Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique, and Mexico's Rafael Marquez and Argentina's Gabriel Milito once the pair return from injury.
