Cisse seals Panathinaikos move

ATHENS - France striker Djibril Cisse has completed his move from Marseille to Panathinaikos, the Greek club said on Friday.

Panathinaikos announced the news via a brief statement on the club website which read: "Panathinaikos announces that it has reached an agreement with the player Djibril Cisse with a contract of four years duration."

Although no financial details have been confirmed, reports said Marseille would receive a figure close to 8 million euros for the player, who will earn around 2.5 million euros a year.

Cisse, 27, was given a rapturous reception by over 2,000 Panathinaikos fans as he arrived at Athens' Eleftherios Venizelos airport on Thursday.

The former Liverpool striker, who is of Ivorian descent, made his name at Auxerre in France before moving to Anfield in 2004.

After three years in the Premiership he joined Marseille, who loaned him out to Sunderland last season where he scored 10 goals in 35 games.

Cisse has 37 caps and has scored nine goals fro France.
