Cologne complete Schorch signing

Bundesliga side Cologne have completed the signing of Christopher Schorch from Real Madrid. The 20-year-old defender passed his medical on Tuesday and is Cologne’s second signing in two days, following the arrival of Portugal international Maniche from Atletico Madrid. “We tried to sign him two years ago, but lost out to Real Madrid back then," said Cologne manager Michael Meier.

"Christopher Schorch fulfils the profile of what we were looking for and strengthens the quality of our squad.

"It is intentionally a long-term deal with Christopher Schorch since this transfer is also about his potential." Schorch spent two years at Real Madrid after joining from Hertha Berlin in 2007. However, he failed to break into the Madridistas' first team,

The Germany U20 international will now join his new team-mates at a training camp in Velden ahead of their friendly with Bayern Munich on Friday.
