ROME - Serse Cosmi has quit as coach of Serie A strugglers Livorno after Sunday's 2-0 home defeat by fourth-placed Napoli because his relationship with club president Aldo Spinelli has broken down.
"The conditions do not exist to work productively because of differences with president Spinelli," Cosmi told reporters.
"I cannot think about preparing matches while consuming nervous energy managing an internal conflict. It's better to step aside."
Cosmi took over the Tuscan side in October when they were bottom after Gennaro Ruotolo's sacking.
They are currently 16th, two points above the relegation zone.
