CSKA reject Penev resignation

SOFIA - CSKA Sofia have refused to accept the resignation of coach Luboslav Penev who announced he was quitting on Friday after a disagreement with the club's owners over their decision to reinstate nine suspended players.

"The supervisory board had a meeting tonight and didn't accept Luboslav Penev's resignation," board chairman Dimitar Borisov told reporters after CSKA's 2-0 win over city rivals Slavia Sofia on Sunday.

Penev said he had resigned because he was frustrated by the owners' decision to reinstate nine players who had been suspended after late night drinking sessions in the past fortnight.

"I resigned but that doesn't means that I shouldn't go to work until there's a decision by the club's supervisory board," Penev said.

"I didn't change my mind but let's wait and see. If you're interested in it we'll talk about it on Monday, on Tuesday."

CSKA top the league standings with 28 points from 12 matches ahead of Litex on goal difference.
