Dossena keen on Kjaer signing

Liverpool defender Andrea Dossena has urged Rafael Benitez to sign in-demand Palermo defender Simon Kjaer.

The 20-year-old centre-back has made 34 Serie A appearances for the Rosanero since arriving from FC Midtjylland.

The Danish international - who recently helped his country seal automatic qualification for next summer's World Cup finals, has produced consistently impressive performances for his club over the past 12 months.

And as a result, he has been tipped to depart for pastures new as soon as January, with Liverpool, Manchester United, AC Milan, Juventus and Real Madrid all reportedly mulling moves for the starlet.

And former Udinese stopper Dossena has backed calls for under-fire Anfield boss Benitez to add Kjaer to his defensive ranks.

"I have read that he has been linked with many strong teams who need important players," he told Mediterraneonline.it.

"We have four excellent defenders, but it's down to Benitez to decide. If he feels Kjaer is needed then he will come.

"The games in England are very physical and therefore a player like Kjaer could help Liverpool's cause."
