Fabregas reveals Calderon phone call

Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has revealed he held a telephone conversation with former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon. The former Barcelona youngster has made more than 150 Premier League appearances for the Gunners since arriving in July 2003, and is currently contracted at the Emirates Stadium until 2014. However, the Spanish international continues to be the subject of speculation linking him with a move either back to Barca or to Real Madrid. And the 21-year-old has admitted he spoke to ex-Real chief Calderon over the phone, but is adament he never told him that he wished to join them. "It's true the president of Real Madrid called me personally, we spoke on the phone," he told El Mundo. "But I never gave him my word that I was going to sign for Real Madrid. He asked about my progress and that was it. "I have not given him nor anyone else the expectation that I will join them. The same goes for anyone who represents me. I am a person of my work and I can assure you that I have never given any club reason to believe that I would leave Arsenal. "Nobody can say that they have agreed with me that I become part of their project. That is clear. "It is an incredible compliment that two of the most important clubs in the world are interested in you, but I am an Arsenal player and have a contract with them until 2014."
