Manchester United are set to sign one of France’s most promising young players – from under the noses of a slew of Champions League rivals.
Reports from France suggest that Manchester United have made enquiries for Bordeaux winger Gabriel Obertan, with club president Jean-Louis Triaud admitting that there is a “great possibility” that the youngster will sign for United.
“United want him and we would be delighted to see Gabriel develop in such a club,” Triaud told L’Equipe. “We will make it official when the moment comes.”
Obertan, 20, has been linked with some of Europe’s biggest sides: AC Milan, Inter Milan, Arsenal and Chelsea are all said to have been monitoring his progress.
A France under-21 regular, he scored against England U21 in March, and last month was named the Most Valuable Player at the Toulon International Youth Tournament.
