French starlet flattered by Reds interest

Highly-rated Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue says he flattered by rumours linking him with a move to the Premier League.

Both Liverpool and Arsenal are believed to be interested in the French U21 international, who is impressing in Ligue 1 as a holding midfielder, leading to inevitable comparisons with Claude Makelele, a master of the position with both Real Madrid and Chelsea.

And the 20-year-old has revealed his delight at the prospect of a big-money move to English shores in the summer, although he believes he may be better served remaining in Ligue 1 for another season or two to develop his game. "It is good to be linked with prestigious clubs," he told skysports.com. "But I have only just started in the top division in France and I need to prove myself before moving abroad.

"I will not lose any sleep over it. I am very down to earth and I will continue to work hard and have more good games for Toulouse. Our squad is fantastic, we get on well, and we want to make a name for ourselves. "However, I do like English football, I watch it a lot, and I also like the Spanish Liga. Maybe one day I will play there, who knows?"
