Germany & Brazil sign cooperation deal

BERLIN - Germany signed a cooperation agreement with Brazil on Thursday to help the Brazilians prepare to host the World Cup in 2014 and the 2016 Olympics, Chancellor Angela Merkel's office said.

Germany, which hosted the 2006 World Cup, will help Brazil with its experience in organising the tournament and hopes to gain contracts for infrastructure projects.

Germany's BDI industry association said Brazil aimed to invest more than 200 billion euros in infrastructure in the coming years.
