Guardiola happy with Bayern win

Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola was pleased after his side defeated former club Barcelona 2-0 in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday.

The German and European champions were dominant against a weakened Barcelona team at the Allianz Arena, with Philipp Lahm and Mario Mandzukic scoring for the hosts.

It was the ideal way to prepare for the German Super Cup on Saturday, which will see Bayern take on rivals Borussia Dortmund.

Guardiola - who played and managed Barcelona with huge success - was happy with his side's efforts, as they coasted to victory in front of a sell-out home crowd.

"It was a special game for me," the 42-year-old said.

"I was a Barcelona player and coach my entire life. Bayern have given me a very good team. I have nothing to complain about at the moment. My football is easy to understand.

"It was a good preparation for Borussia Dortmund. Barcelona are always a good team and they were a good test for us."

Franck Ribery was excellent for Bayern, setting up Lahm's early goal with a terrific cross.

And the France international winger felt the result was important ahead of Saturday's match, in which Bayern will attempt to win their first trophy of the new season.

"Barcelona weren't complete, but the win is important for confidence and (to get into) rhythm," he stated.
