Holland held to 1-1 draw by Tunisia

RADIS, Tunisia - Below-par Netherlands were held to a 1-1 draw by Tunisia in their international friendly on Wednesday after Jamel Saihi cancelled out Klaas Jan Huntelaar's strike.

Huntelaar fired in his 11th international goal for the Dutch just past the hour when a long pass from Stijn Schaars was headed on by Joris Mathijsen.

But despite the Dutch dominating for long periods, the home side equalised soon after when keeper Maarten Stekelenburg misjudged a long drive from Saihi.

"This was an African opponent and we hardly have any experience with them," Dutch coach Bert van Marwijk told SBS6-TV.

"The match was so hard that it was everything but a friendly. We have to learn how to handle matches like this.

"Before the break our pace was too low and therefore we created no danger, but in the second we had more speed on our flanks and that resulted in more chances."

Ryan Babel rounded his marker to set up Arjen Robben but the winger missed the target, while playmaker Rafael van der Vaart found keeper Hamdi Kasroui in his way when he appeared unmarked in the penalty area.
