Inappropriate Itandje may face Anfield axe

Liverpool may decide to off-load reserve goalkeeper Charles Itandje this summer after the French stopper was seen acting inappropriately during the Hillsborough memorial service at Anfield on Wednesday. The 26-year-old was spotted fooling around on TV cameras during the service commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster, where 96 Liverpool supporters lost their lives at Sheffield Wednesday's stadium at an FA Cup semi-final tie against Nottingham Forest. Hundreds of supporters have slammed the glove-man's conduct on internet message boards, while the former French U21 international’s behaviour is also believed to have angered Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez. A senior Anfield official has also described the keeper's conduct as “wholly unacceptable,” with disciplinary action now expected. Itandje began his career at Lens, making 170 league starts.

But having joined Liverpool in 2007, he has appeared just seven times for the Reds, the most recent coming in the shock FA Cup defeat to Barnsley last season.

He still has two years remaining on his contract.
