Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent could be out for the remainder of the season after suffering a medial knee ligament injury. The 25-year-old sustained the problem in the second half of last weekend’s defeat at Manchester United, in which he netted the opener at Old Trafford only to see his side eventually lose 5-2.
Bent, who is Spurs’ top-scorer this season with 17, could now be absent for his side's crucial run-in, as Harry Redknapp bids to transform the White Hart Lane outfit from relegation fodder to Europa League participants since taking over in October.
“Darren has had a knee problem that will keep him out for several weeks. He will not be around for a while," said Redknapp.
“It is a blow for him because he has done well and scored goals. We need him and he needs to play. He has been in good form but what can you do?”
