ROME - Inter Milan will appeal against the 7,000-euro fine forward Mario Balotelli received for provoking opposition fans in Wednesday's 1-0 win at Chievo Verona, the Serie A leaders said on their website on Friday.
The Italy under-21 international, who is of Ghanaian descent and has often been the victim of racist abuse, was penalised for clapping at home fans when being substituted.
Balotelli, author of the winning goal, said he was responding to racist boos.
Chievo were not punished. Inter were fined 15,000 euros by the sporting judge of the Italian Football League for racial abuse their fans directed at the Verona team's black Brazilian midfielder Luciano.comments
