Le Mans chief suspended for slamming referee

PARIS - Le Mans president Henri Legarda has been suspended for a month for criticising the refereeing following his side's 3-1 defeat by Olympique Lyon this month, the French federation (FFF) said on Tuesday.

"The National Council of Ethics has decided to impose on Mr Legarda a suspension of one month, including two weeks suspended. He will not be allowed to exercise official functions from April 22 following his statement hitting out at the referee," the FFF said in a statement.

Legarda said after the match that he was concerned that the referee was put under pressure by the Lyon players.
