Malaga hire Muniz to replace Tapia

MADRID - Malaga have hired Juan Ramon Lopez Muniz as coach to replace Antonio Tapia, who quit at the end of the season to take charge at relegated Real Betis, the Primera Liga club said on Thursday.

Lopez Muniz, who was released from his contract with Racing Santander last week, returns to the club he led to promotion in the 2007/08 season and has signed a two-year contract, Malaga said on their website.

Malaga finished eighth in the standings last term and Racing were 12th.
