Arsenal starlet Fran Merida has insisted he wants to stay with the Gunners, despite reported interest from Atletico Madrid and Sevilla. The 19-year-old former Barcelona prodigy continues to impress at the Emirates Stadium, scoring his first goal for the club in the recent League Cup success over Liverpool with a 25-yard screamer.
As a result, the talented teenager has attracted interest from his homeland in the form of Atletico, with the player's agent, Joseba Diaz, recently revealing that Merida's head had been slightly turned by interest from the rojiblancos.
However, Gunners' boss Arsene Wenger quickly moved to quash talk of the youngster leaving North London, admitting that the player had agreed a new deal, in principle. And Merida has stated his desire to remain with Arsenal. "I am committed to Arsenal and I am only thinking of playing there," he said in Marca. "I feel I am improving every day and the manager is now involving me more in first team training."
