Moyes hints at Forlan swoop

Everton manager David Moyes has refused to rule out a move for former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan – also linked with Liverpool and Manchester City – during the January transfer window.

The Atletico Madrid forward recently confessed he would love to return to the Premier League, fuelling speculation that he could be leaving cash-strapped Atletico in early 2010.

Forlan netted 32 goals in La Liga last season and will be hoping to replicate his prolific form ahead of next summer’s World Cup.

The 30-year-old scored just 17 times during a four-year spell at Old Trafford, but Moyes admits he would be extremely interested in bringing Forlan back to England.

The Scot, however, conceded that the club’s own financial restraints mean any possible move for the Uruguayan would only be on a temporary basis.

“If he was interested, I’d give him a home, but we’ve said the players we bring in will probably be on loan,” he said.

“We have played with one hand tied behind our back with what we have got this season, but we hope to make some additions as well in January.”
