Newcastle United have reportedly agreed a fee with Bolton Wanderers for midfielder Kevin Nolan. The Magpies squad has been decimated by injuries so far this season, with Michael Owen and Joey Barton adding to the injury list on Wednesday after suffering ankle and foot problems respectively.
Nolan's signing will help soften the blow of losing fellow central midfielder Barton, who is facing up to 10 weeks out after sustaining a fractured bone in his foot during United's 2-1 defeat at Manchester City. 26-year-old central midfielder Nolan has spent his entire career to date at Bolton, breaking into the Trotters' first team 10 years ago, going on to score 40 league goals in more than 250 starts, with the 12 he netted in the 2003/04 campaign taking him to the fringes of a call up to the England squad.
