Niang signs new Marseille contract

MARSEILLE - Olympique Marseille's Senegal striker Mamadou Niang has signed a new two-year contract, the Ligue 1 club said on their website on Thursday. The 29-year-old, whose deal runs until 2014, has scored at least 10 goals a season since joining Marseille from Strasbourg in 2005, including a peak of 18 in the 2007-2008 campaign. "This is part of the life of a club. When top players do well, a club has to show them they are important," coach Didier Deschamps told the Marseille website.
