SYDNEY - Australia coach Pim Verbeek has given three players their first call-ups in a 23-man squad for the 2011 Asian Cup qualifier in Kuwait on Jan. 6, the FFA said on Tuesday.
Brisbane Roar's Tommy Oar, Melbourne Victory's Matthew Kemp and Tando Velaphi of Perth Glory have all been brought in by the Dutchman in a squad including 15 Australian A-League players.
Central Coast Mariners goalkeeper Danny Vukovic has previously been in the Socceroos squad but is in line to make his senior debut should he play.
Europe-based players joining the side for the qualifier include Dynamo Moscow midfielder Luke Wilkshire and English-based duo Nick Carle (Crystal Palace) and Shane Lowry (Aston Villa).
Kuwait upset Australia 1-0 when the teams met in Canberra earlier this year. Both sit level on seven points from four games at the top of qualifying Group B.
The Socceroos take on Indonesia in Brisbane in their final group game on March 3 with Kuwait away to Oman on the same date. The top two qualify for the finals in Qatar.comments
