Manchester United defender John O’Shea has told fellow United team-mate Patrice Evra to prepare for “hell” ahead of France’s visit to Croke Park.
The Republic of Ireland host Les Bleus this coming Saturday in the first-leg of the 2010 World Cup qualifying play-off.
And 28-year-old Evra says his Old Trafford comrade has warned him to prepare for a hostile reception from the passionate home support.
“O’Shea, he promised me hell at Croke Park,” he told L’Equipe.
Evra also called on his team-mates to stand up and be counted, and has implored France fans to get behind the team and coach Raymond Domenech.
“We must stop hiding behind Domenech. People who whistle are the same. They should not forget that he is a coach who must lead France at the World Cup,” he said.
Domenech is under-fire following a poor group campaign, with the French missing out on automatic qualification for South Africa to Serbia.
Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery will miss the Republic of Ireland clash on Saturday due to a knee injury.comments
