Werder Bremen midfielder Mesut Ozil has revealed that he dreams of playing for European champions Barcelona one day.
The 20-year-old has made 46 league appearances for Bremen since joining from Schalke in 2008, netting seven goals.
And the starlet, who has Turkish heritage, has made five appearances for the German national team, having already represented his country at both U19 and U21 level, and was part of the squad that beat England 4-0 in the final of the U21 European Championships in Sweden this summer.
Ozil's form has already seen him linked with a big-money move to Arsenal to continue his development under Arsene Wenger at the Emirates Stadium.
However, he has since insisted that he is happy to remain with last season's UEFA Cup finalists and German Cup winners, but admitted that it is his ambition to join Catalan giants Barcelona.
“I've found Barcelona fascinating, ever since I was small,” he told Bild.
“They've always had very good players, at the time for example they had Ronaldo and Figo.
“Right now, signing for them is not an issue for me. But this is a dream of mine. But for that to happen I still have to work hard. I am happy at Werder, they have big plans.”comments
