Palermo chief eyes Ranieri as coach

MILAN - Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini would consider appointing former Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri after falling out with current boss Davide Ballardini.

"The situation with Ballardini is now compromised," Zamparini told reporters on Tuesday. "I like (Siena's) Marco Giampaolo and Ranieri is also free."

Ranieri was sacked by Juve last month and media reports said interim coach Ciro Ferrara and AS Roma boss Luciano Spalletti were vying for the Turin hotseat after Antonio Conte agreed to stay at Bari.
