Redknapp rules out Petrov signing

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has ruled out a summer move for Manchester City winger Martin Petrov. The left-sided Bulgarian midfielder was believed to be on the former Portsmouth bosses' wish-list, following a failed attempt to sign Middlesbrough wide-man Stewart Downing in January to fill the same position. However, it is has been confirmed that the 30-year-old, who has only just returned from a lengthy spell out with a knee injury, will not be heading to White Hart Lane at the end of the season. "I think Martin Petrov is a good player but he has been out injured for months," Redknapp said. "He is a terrific left winger and a good crosser of the ball but I have never thought about signing him for Tottenham. "I am watching games all the time and thinking about next year to build a team here that will never have these problems again. I'm sure the fans don't want to be stuck in a relegation battle all year. "We are looking to improve again in the summer and I'm sure there are a few bargains out there who can improve the squad and make us even stronger next year." CITY FANS!
