Scholes splashes out on anniversary bash

Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes, well known for steering clear of the celebrity limelight, has splashed out on a party costing £100,000. Champagne fountains, ice sculptures and the surroundings of Saddleworth’s White Hart hotel were arranged to celebrate his 10th wedding anniversary with childhood sweetheart Claire. X-Factor singer Laura White was also hired to sing his loved-one's favourite songs, and it is rumoured that Scholes renewed his wedding vows. “He wanted to push the boat out for once,” a source close to the quiet footballer said. With Scholes’ team mate Wayne Rooney and his wife Coleen now expecting a baby, it appears romance is far from dead in the football world.
