Sociedad fined and warned after bottle incident

Real Sociedad were fined 1000 euros ($1,262) and threatened with stadium closure after their coach was hit by a bottle thrown from the stands during a home match on Saturday, the club said on Wednesday.

Although the second division fixture against Eibar at the Anoeta was abandoned by the referee with a minute remaining, the Spanish Football Federation's disciplinary committee said the 0-0 scoreline would stand.

Sociedad's Juan Manuel Lillo required stitches in his forehead after the incident and the alleged culprit was arrested by the police.
