Spurs eye Doumbia swoop

Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for explosive Ivory Coast striker Seydou Doumbia – the man tipped to partner Chelsea striker Didier Drogba up-front in next summer’s World Cup.

The highly-rated Young Boys of Berne hit-man took the Swiss top flight by storm last season and sensationally scored 20 goals despite starting just eight league games.

Doumbia has continued his impressive form this season and leads the scoring charts once again following two hat-tricks in his last six outings.

And according to the Daily Mirror, Spurs sent scouts to see the 21-year-old in action on Sunday, but may face stiff competition from Russia for the Ivorian’s signature.

Rubin Kazan and CSKA Moscow have both had £8 million bids rejected for Doumbia, who is understood to favour a move to England.

The youngster netted the winner in Young Boys’ surprise 1-0 win at Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League and has 24 goals to his name in all competitions this campaign.
