DUBAI - The head of United Arab Emirates' league has attacked relegation-bound Sharjah for pulling out of the Asian Champions League, saying other teams in the county could bear the brunt of sanctions.
"This is a very bad decision they have made," Romy Gai, the chief executive of the UAE Professional League, told Tuesday's National newspaper.
"They have made the worst possible choice. It poses a risk not just to the club, but to UAE football as well in terms of our image. It shows... that we are not ready for this stage yet, we are still some way away from professionalism."comments
