UEFA to examine Mourinho ref comments

(updates with UEFA not taking action)

BERNE, Switzerland, Feb 25 (Reuters) - UEFA will not take any action against Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho after his post-match allegations of refereeing bias during Tuesday's 0-0 Champions League home draw with Manchester United.

"UEFA will not take any action against Jose Mourinho," the European governing body said in a statement on Wednesday, having earlier said it was considering taking disciplinary action.

Following the first knockout round, first leg encounter, Mourinho said he was unhappy with Spanish referee Luis Medina Catalejo particularly over his dismissal of a penalty claim by Inter striker Adriano.

"If we have a referee that gives the same protection to the away team (at Old Trafford), we will go into the quarter-final," Mourinho told reporters.

However, a spokesman said UEFA was satisfied that more inflammatory comments ascribed to Mourinho during the post-match news conference, which was translated, were not accurate.
