United eye Cesar swoop

Manchester United are eyeing up Inter Milan goalkeeper Julio Cesar to replace Edwin van der Sar at Old Trafford, according to the player's agent.

The 30-year-old Brazilian international has made more than 130 Serie A appearances for the Nerazzurri since arriving from Flamengo in 2005.

The custodian - who has 40 caps for his country - kept goal for the Samba Boys earlier this summer in Brazil's successful Confederations Cup campaign.

And, according to representitive Joasias Cardoso, Premier League champions are keen on acquiring him next summer, after being impressed during the sides' Champions League quarter-final clash last season, with Cesar ensuring the first-leg at the San Siro ended goalless with a string of saves.

"Yes, United have shown an interest in Julio, but they have never made an official offer," he told Tuttosport.

The Red Devils have been linked with a string of glove-men as potential replacements for 38-year-old Dutchmen Van der Sar, who recently revealed that this season may be his last at Old Trafford

CSKA Moscow stopper Igor Andreev, Schalke custodian Manuel Neuer. Lazio youngster Fernando Muslera and Sporting goalkeeper Rui Patricio have all been tipped to sign on the dotted line with Sir Alex Ferguson's side.
