Wendel flattered by move rumours

Bordeaux winger Wendel has welcomed reports linking him with a move to a major European outfit.

The 27-year-old Brazilian - who can operate at left-back and on the left wing - is approaching a century of league appearances for Laurent Blanc's side since arriving from Nacional in 2006, netting 22 goals.

And as a result, the former Cruzeiro starlet has been tipped to depart the club for pastures new, with Tottenham Hotspur believed to be interested, having failed to lure fellow left-sided star Stewart Downing to White Hart Lane.

Les Girondins have already sold one wide-man this summer, with 20-year-old Gabriel Obertan joining Manchester United on a four-year deal.

And Wendel has admitted he is flattered by speculation linking him with a move abroad.

"I have not received any official proposal, but I'm glad to have clubs like these who are interested in my football," he said.

Spurs have also recently been tipped to make a move for Marseille winger Hatem Ben Arfa in January.

The French international is reportedly ready to quit the club in order to find regular first-team football ahead of next summer's World Cup.
