MADRID - Real Zaragoza have sealed a preliminary agreement with Mexican side Monterrey to take Chilean striker Humberto Suazo - reportedly wanted by Tottenham Hotspur - on loan, the La Liga club said on their website on Friday.
Monterrey said the loan would last until the end of May and the preliminary deal included an option for Zaragoza to buy the player.
The shaven-headed Suazo has a prolific scoring rate, including 10 in Chile's successful World Cup qualifying campaign, and has spent his career in Chile and Mexico, where he made his debut for Monterrey in August 2007.
The 28-year-old had been linked with a January transfer window move to Spurs, with White Hart Lane supremo Harry Redknapp believed to be an admirer of the goal-getter.
Reports had claimed that Tottenham would use money gained from the sale of Roman Pavlyuchenko to lure Suazo to Spurs.
