Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has given his strongest indication yet that Bolo Zenden will feature for the Black Cats in the second half of the season.
The former Barcelona, Chelsea and Liverpool winger has impressed while on trial at the Stadium of Light, and Bruce has revealed he is looking to bolster his midfield ranks.
“He gives us a little more experience and it's in the back of my mind that we're very short of numbers in the middle," he said.
“We only really have Jordan [Henderson], Lorik [Cana] and Lee [Cattermole], and the latter two will pick up a few yellow cards.”
And Bruce added that he is keen to snap up the veteran wide-man, who has been a free agent since leaving Marseille at the end of last season, as he believes his experience at the top level proves he has true footballing pedigree.
“You don't play for Liverpool, Barcelona and Marseille if you haven't got pedigree, and the lad's in tip-top condition for his age," he said.
” I will have a conversation with Bolo towards the end of the week and we'll take it from there.”
