Copa 90 presents six reasons Belgium can win Euro 2016
Belgium’s national football team has become something of an enigma in recent years.
Able to overcome opponents with consummate ease either side of major tournaments, there remains an underlying sense they still need to prove themselves on the biggest stages.
Dropping out of the 2014 World Cup with a quarter-final defeat to eventual finalists Argentina, Belgium took it in their stride and carried on, sealing the world’s top ranking in 2015.
Coming into Euro 2016 they have slipped one place to No.2, still making them the highest ranked team from Europe, but few seem to be tipping them to win it all and claim the first major honour in their history.
A runner-up finish behind the West Germans in the 1980 European Championships and fourth placing at the 1986 World Cup remain their best performances at that level.
So, will things be different this time around?
Ahead of their tournament opener against Italy at 3am Singapore time on Tuesday morning, we present a film from the brilliant crew at Copa 90, who have come up with six reasons why Belgium can win Euro 2016.
Goalkeepers, experience, something they call ‘Tous ensemble’ and Eden Hazard all feature.
