The FourFourTwo team – and a couple of friends – reveal their best moments from this summer's World Cup...
It's hard to believe that the World Cup is over, and we've finally crowned a new champion. Nearly men Germany have finally ascended the throne they have yearned for all these past years, and done so in quite breathtaking style. There will be few to begrudge them this victory, as a cohesive yet talented unit wrote their way into history.
Singaporeans islandwide were glued to their TV screens for a whole month, such was the quality of football on display. A ferocious opening round of group stage games left everybody entranced - it wasn't till a few days in before we got our first nil-all draw.
There were plenty of moments to talk about early on in the group stages, and meme-worthy incidents galore. And the goals! Oh contenders for goal of the tournament seemed to flood in every second morning, each clamoring to be better than the earlier efforts. Definitely lots of arguments over breakfast tables, that's for sure!
For me, my moment of the World Cup has to be RVP's flying header against Spain. Not just the manner in which he leaped like Superman, but the way in which he celebrated it - the United forward went straight to the bench and exchanged high-fives with Van Gaal, his impending club manager! It just shows how much a player can be motivated or transformed under a manager who they have massive respect for.
